Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2010: the eighth day with a final surprise ...

Hello,

we got our last meeting of this series ... I hope this helped:

EIGHTH DAY

"Do you have something to eat?" (Lk 24, 41)

Genesis 18, 1-8 Then I'll give you something to eat
Psalm 146 (145), 1-10 defends the cause of the persecuted [...] gives food to the hungry
Romans 14, 17-19 So let that contributes to peace and mutual aid
Luke 24, 41-48 Jesus helped them to understand the prophecies of the Bible

Comment:

Electronic communication has made us today, neighbors, a small and overcrowded planet.
As at the time of the Evangelist Luke, even today many individuals and communities have had to leave their homes, traveling and wandering in foreign lands. Faithful members of the great religions of the world have brought with them new beliefs and new cultures in our communities.

During the Week of Prayer, we acknowledge the hospitality and the company of Christians of all churches in our common journey towards unity. God invites us to offer and receive the hospitality of the stranger next to us now. Certainly, if we fail to see Christ in others, we can not see at all.

The story of Genesis tells of Abraham as God has accepted aprendogli their homes and offering hospitality to the stranger. The God of all creation is in the prisoner, the blind, in the stranger. The psalm is today an offering of praise to God for His unending faithfulness and for everything he has done for us. The letter to the Romans reminds us that the kingdom of God is justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. The Risen Christ gathers his disciples together, eats with them, they recognize him again. He reminds them what the Scriptures have said about him and explain to them what had not understood before. Then, he frees them from their doubts and their fears, and sends it to become witnesses of these things. In creating this space to meet, He enables them to receive His peace, which means justice for the oppressed, the hungry, care and mutual support, such as gifts of the new world of resurrection. Christians throughout history have found every time the resurrected Christ who served and were served by people of different faiths, and we can also encounter Christ when we share our lives and our gifts.

Prayer
O God of love, Thou hast shown
your hospitality in Christ.
recognize that the sharing of gifts,
we will meet.
Give us the grace to become one in our journey together
and recognize you in our next.
Fa 'that when we welcome the stranger in your name,
we become witnesses of your hospitality and your justice. Amen.

Questions for personal reflection

1. To what extent the country you live in is hospitable to strangers?
2. How a foreigner can find hospitality and a place to live, in your context?
3. How You can show your gratitude to those who showed hospitality by being available?
4. How the cross shows us that the hospitality of God is lived out in the hospitality total self-giving?

And now, a surprise at the end of this wonderful week: I leave action on Chiara Lubich communion between the Churches, held in a shared celebration of the ecumenical Church of St. Anna in Augsburg in 1998 but is still relevant today! Enjoy it, is to savor every word.

Hello, good day. See you soon.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2010: seventh day ...

Dear friends, here I am with

penultimate meditation

SEVENTH DAY
"Witnessing hope and confidence"
"Why have so many doubts in you?" ( Lk 24, 38)

Job 19, 23-27 I'll see it next to me
Psalm 63 (62), 1-12 you are thirsty
Acts 3, 1-10 What I do I'll gladly
Luke 24, 36-40 Shocked and frightened

Comment:

In their way of life and faith, all Christians experience moments of doubt. When Christians fail to recognize the presence of the risen Christ, being together sometimes serious doubts, instead of relieving.

The challenge that Christians face is to continue to believe that, even when they see or do not perceive God, He remains with them. The virtues of faith, hope and confidence allow them to testify that faith goes beyond their own capabilities.

The character of Job gives us an example of a man who faced difficult trials and tribulations, and even debated with God in faith and hope, however, he believed that God would stay close to him. The same conviction and the same confidence characterize the action of Peter and John healing the cripple told in the Acts. Their faith in Jesus' name allows them to witness with power to all present. The prayer of the psalm of today reflects our deep desire of the merciful love of God

Our meeting during this week of prayer allows our community to grow in the sharing of faith, hope and love. We bear witness to the merciful love of God toward the one Church that we are called to be. The higher our testimony together, will be our most vital message.

Prayer
O God of hope,
show us your plan of unity in the Church,
and let us overcome our doubts.
Increase our faith in your presence
that all those who profess faith in you
could worship together in spirit and in truth.
We pray especially for those who are in doubt now,
for those living in the shadow of danger and fear,
stay with them, O God, and give them your consoling presence. Amen.

Questions for personal reflection

1. How to face your fears and your doubts?

2. How it yourself, with your behavior, you may be due to fear or anxiety for others?

3.When you got to face your own fears and doubts, overcome and giving testimony of your faith in Christ?

4. How Christian communities can encourage one another in faith and hope?

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2010: sixth day ...

Hello, my dear ...

here's the new meditation

SIXTH DAY
"Witnessing in fidelity to the Scriptures"
"We felt like a fire in my heart, when he spoke to us along the way and explains the Bible? "(Lk 24, 32)

Isaiah 55, 10-11 This is also the word that goes forth from my mouth does not return to me without producing any effect
Psalm 119 (118), 17-40 Open my eyes and behold the fruits of your wonderful Law
2 Timothy 3: 14-17 Everything that is written in the Bible is inspired by God
Luke 24, 28-35 Jesus reveals the Scriptures to his disciples

Comment:

Christians discover God's word in a special way, through reading the Holy Scriptures and the sacraments. Faithful in listening to the proclamation of Sacred Scripture and reading, in prayer, the various books of the Bible, open their hearts and their minds to receive the true word of God Jesus promised His disciples that He would send His Spirit to let them fully understand the word of God, and to lead them into all truth.

Historically, Christians have been divided in reading and understanding of God's word more often used the Bible to emphasize their opposition to that to find paths to reconciliation. Fortunately, in recent times, has approached the Bible Christians, in the quest for unity. Joint Bible studies have become a common tool for growth together.

The journey of faith that we celebrate during this week of prayer for Christian unity is firmly rooted in listening to the Word of God shared in joint research to understand and to live it. The prophet Isaiah reminds us that the word of God proclaimed in power is really effective and operational, not return to God without fruit, but realizes the purpose for which it is sent. This message is repeated in the words addressed to Timothy, when he is led to believe in the efficacy of Scripture, which makes the faithful capable of good works. The psalm gives praise to the words and statutes of God and begs him to give us the understanding to keep the holy law with all my heart.

During this week we pray for the unity of all Christians to enter more deeply into the mystery of the wonderful revelation of God as it comes to us in Sacred Scripture. We raise our prayer to the Holy Spirit to make us better understand the word of God and direct us in our journey of faith until we all gathered around one table of the Lord.

Prayer
O God the Father,
praise you and thank you for your saving word
we receive in Holy Scripture.
Thank you for our brothers and sisters with whom we share your

word and with whom we discover the abundance of your love.
Fa 'that we are obedient to the Holy Spirit's light
that your word can lead us and direct us in
this desire for greater unity. Amen.

Questions for personal reflection

1. Which passages of Scripture are most important to you?

2. In your life, who or what turns on the passion in your heart for the gospel and the desire to bear witness to Christ?

3. Which passages of Scripture helped you to better understand the testimony of other Christians?

4. How can our churches use the Scriptures more effectively in their daily lives and in their prayer?
